The Information Technology program is an innovative program designed to introduce students to the computer systems and software most commonly used by businesses.
Instruction and hands on training is provided in all aspects of computers including building, repair, and maintenance, with the goal of giving the students a well-rounded perspective that will allow them to obtain employment in the computer industry, or further their education at a post-secondary institution.
Students learn how to install various operating systems and applications, as well as, how to troubleshoot them. Students are trained in various versions of Microsoft Office, a highly popular software package that includes Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint. Students use various tablet PCs to experience “The Cloud”.
When students complete the program, they will sit for their IC3, PC Pro, and OSHA 10-hour certification and are prepared to sit for their A+ certification.
To keep pace with the computer information systems in industry, new training options are continually added to the curriculum. Prospective students should possess the ability to think logically and problem solve. Basic computer, math, reading, and communication skills are a must.
